As of this last month, I have been working on my Largest Project Pan Ever for a full year. Though I have a long way to go to finish it, I have learned a lot from it. I wanted to share the twelve lessons, that I have learned over this past year to help you get through your project pan too. Continue reading “A Year of Panning – Lessons I’ve Learned”
If you’ve read my last post, it’s has been quite some time since I last posted and update for my project pan. Even though I haven’t posted any updates on here, it doesn’t mean I have stopped doing the project altogether. I have still been panning products and fortunately I have finished 10 in the last 4 months.
Items Finished In May:
Treseme Beautiful Volume Shampoo and Conditoner Sample packs (2 sets)
I did receive these through Influenster and it took me a while to actually get to them. The concept of doing you conditioner first sounds interesting but didn’t work for how I normally wash my hair. On the other hand, it did bring a lot of volume to my hair.
Bath & Body Works Body Wash in Sea Island Cotton
As always, this is my winter scent and my goal was to finish this product by the beginning of summer, and thankfully I was. I love this scent but I’m not going to purchase any more bath products for a while.
Suave Professionals Natural Infusion Anti-Breakage Shampoo (Travel Size)
With Suave shampoos, I never really see any difference in my hair. During this time I was still having a lot of fall-out and breakage in my hair but I feel that it had more to do with my health at the time rather than the shampoo.
Items Finished In June:
Maybelline Fit Me! Matte & Poreless Foundation in 112
This was a very light coverage foundation, which is nice for days where I want to cover up a little bit of my acne scarring but I am a full coverage kind of girl. I didn’t like that I had to apply so many layers to get the coverage I want that my skin looked cakey. Unfortunately this shade had too much yellow in it for me and did oxidize to be even more yellow, which is a recurring problem for me trying to find foundations, on top of the fact that it didn’t even last a few hours against my oily skin.
Be a Bombshell! Tinted Lip Balm in French Kiss
I had received this in an IPSY bag a long time ago, and I hate it so much. This shade is horrible for people with fair complexions like me as it is very very frosty but on top of that it feels waxy and leave a white residue on your lips that you have to wash off.
Village Naturals Aches & Pains Shower Wash
I really do love this brand, and it sucks that I can’t find it in my local Target anymore. This shower wash has a bit of a citrus/mint scent to it, and it also leave a slight cooling sensation on the skin. I used it the most when my joints started hurting from a physically exhausting day. I miss the scent and feel of it.
Items Finished In July:
So the big thing about this brand is that it meant to be sensitive skin friendly, but this was not. It smelled like mildewed clothing and actually had a burning sensation when I would apply it. I’ve essentially given up on this brand that I used to love after this.
Bath & Body Works Body Cream in Sweet Pea
The first to go down so far out of what’s left of my Sweet Pea B&BW stash. Still love it, and how the formula of the body cream feels as it absorbs into the skin.
Items Finished In August:
Pixi by Petra Mini Brow Trio
This was another item I received in an IPSY bag a long while ago. I had to find a variety of ways to use it since it was three different colors. I used the large taupe shade to set my eye primer and the medium brown shade for my crease, since they were both too light for my brows. The shade I did use for my brows just took forever to use. The powder itself applied fine and blended well.
NYX Butter Lipstick in Little Susie
I loved applying this extremely creamy lipstick. This is actually one of NYX’s more pigmented lipsticks and I have really enjoyed the application. This shade of hot pink worked well for my skin tone and surprised me with how much I liked it since I normally don’t go towards hot pink shades. I can’t wait to try out more colors after I finish the rest of my lipsticks.
So what have you finished panning over the summer? What are your goals for the rest of the year? At the moment I hope by the end of the year I can finish at least some skin care products .
Also, how do you feel about having a seasonal update rather than a monthly update? The post will be longer for a seasonal one but it will also give me more time to get products done. Please let me know what you think in the comments below.
See you soon!
It’s that time again! At least this time I have enough to make a full post update, unlike February. For this month I was able to cross 10 items off of my list and was able to finish all of my panning goals for April. If this is your first Project Pan post, check this out for my explanation of it.
If you’ve been watching my Instagram, then you already know what products that I’ve finished this month, but this post is more for giving a more in depth review of the products.
So far this year, my Project Pan has been somewhat slow going. Working with full sized products does make it a little more difficult. For example in the month of February I only finished one product. Luckily in March I was able to finish four! Continue reading “The Largest Project Pan Ever 2017 Update 2 (Feb. and March)”
I can’t believe we are already a month into 2017! As always the days of winter go by faster than you can expect and I’m honestly unprepared for spring to get here.
As you saw in my post last month on my Project Panning Goals for 2017, I have about 88 products left to use in my Largest Project Pan Ever. Most of these products are full sized with a sample every now and then, so this part of the project pan is going to get harder.
So far this month, I have only used up/decluttered 10 products. Most of these products are things that I would repurchase again after the project is over, or will have to repurchase because they are the last of a certain type that I have. I hope that you project pans are going better than mine, and please leave me updates in the comments! Continue reading “Largest Project Pan Ever 2017 Update 1”
Over the last 3 months, I’ve been working on the Largest Project Pan Ever, involving 143 products. By New Years Eve, I have finished 54 of the products in those three months! With most of those items being samples, I’m now working on primarily full sized products, and it’s pretty daunting.
There are some products right now that I’m not seeing much progress on no matter how often I use it, but I’m also having moments where I’m getting bored or frustrated. In those moments of weakness, I have broken the No Buy rule I placed at the beginning of this project pan. To the point where I’ve become Platinum level on my Ulta Rewards.
So for the next year I’m going to push harder on the products I have and try to become creative with them so I can still enjoy them. To help me focus, I created a list of thing that I want to finish over this year as a part of this project pan.
A. Both of my Essie Nail Polishes
Honestly, I know everyone raves about this polish line but actually hate the formula. It doesn’t apply very well and chips so easily I can’t stand it. Fortunately because of that flaw, I would have to redo my nails every couple of days and get through them pretty quickly.
B. All of my single eye shadows
I have a variety of single shadows, some that are samples from pallets, but I also have two full pallets that I want to work through as well. I feel like it will be easier to go through my single shadows, but I also grab them quicker when I’m busy or am late for work.
C. All Face Masks
We all know I’m a sucker for skin care, especially when I’m stressed out. Because of that I have quite a few masks that are taking up a lot of space on my bathroom counter. Using them will probably be my favorite part of this project pan, but I’m glad I have enough to alternate, because daily masking is the one thing that can get me through my day sometimes.
D. Finish all Lip Balms.
Even though I only have 3 balms at the moment, I’ve recently received a homemade lip balm that works so much better than any of the others that I have. Plus it is insanely satisfying to see a finished lip balm. If I’ve learned anything from this past year is that I will forget to reapply if it isn’t near me, so I will always have it in my pocket or within reach.
E. Finish all Bath & Body Works body lotions.
I’ve used more of my body washes than I have my lotions in the past year, but I’ve gotten into the routine of using them every time I take a shower. Most of my lotions are going on two years old now and I would really like to use them while the scent is still good.
F. Finish my two foundations
If you saw my New Years Eve Instagram post, you know that I’m trying to step away from foundations. It is my least favorite part of doing my makeup and I haven’t been able to find the right foundation for me yet. Plus, my breakouts are not being helped by wearing it anyway. So when I finish these two foundations and my concealer, I’m going to try not wearing foundation for a while.
For this year I am going to try the no buy again. I have way to many bills at the moment for me to be spending money on makeup and skin care. I have everything I can need for now so I should be fine but it’s the stress buying that will be a problem for me. I feel like if I just find a different (read: healthier) way to handle my stress, it will be easier to do the no buy.
I will be keeping track of each product I use on my Instagram as well as trying to keep up with monthly updates on here.
Are you doing any project pans this year? Do you have it on social media or on your own blog? Leave me a link in the comments below.
Last month I announced that I was going to do, what I believe to be, the largest project pan ever, which includes 143 items in total. No time limit, just pushing to get them done.
Now that a month has gone by, I have gone through almost all of my samples and have begun to make a dent into the full sized products that I have. Already, I am finding samples that I would purchase full sizes of and full sized items that I wouldn’t purchase again. But, if I’ve learned anything so far, it’s that it is a pain to find the right moisturizer.

If you read my last post on me cleaning my bathroom, you know that for two hours I wrote down every single beauty related item that I own and filled five pages of a notebook.
Well, I’ve counted the items and I have a total of 143 beauty related items, ranging from hair care to skin care to makeup. It really is insane. I have duplicates of the same type of item, that I don’t need to repurchase anything for a while. On top of that I have over 40 samples in that list of things that I want to try but have yet to purchase full sizes of.
I’ve tried Project Pans before and I failed my last one because after a while I lost interest in it and I wasn’t making a dent with just using those items daily. It was just very limiting for me, but I think that it’s necessary for me to do it now.
So starting today (October 1st) I am doing the largest Project Pan I have ever seen. I intend to use all 143 items until I see pan and can finally throw them out. I don’t want to just straight up declutter because I feel like I am just wasting money, and I know that sounds like a hoarder but I bought these things for a reason and intend to use them. The things I do like I’ll mark down for repurchase when it’s all over.
The ultimate goal for this is to be able to fit all of my beauty items in my makeup case (read: tackle box). This way I have items that I actually use and love and can easily move it when we move into our own place. Also I am intending to save my money, so we can afford our own place and I can go back to school.
The same rules will apply as they would with normal Project Pans. I will not spend any money on beauty items and fully rely on what I have until I completely run out of that item. So if I run out of powder and I don’t have any backups, I can repurchase. I’m not going to list all of the items on here but I will be putting full updates up at the beginning of each month with the list of items that I used, similar to my Reading Corner posts, but in between I will be posting pictures on Instagram each time a finish an item. The flip side is that I’m not giving myself a specific time frame to use it all. I’m not that crazy.
Wish me luck, everyone. I’m going to need it.
It’s the first week of the month and that means a Project Pan update! If you don’t know what a Project Pan is Click Here to go to my description page/library of previous Projects.
This project consisted of things I’ve had for at least a year now, or were samples that have been sitting in my makeup stash unused. Continue reading “Project Pan Round 2 Update”
It’s that time again! A new month and that means I’m starting a new Project Pan! I have seven items that I’m going to be working on over the next couple of months to get them out of my makeup stash and make room for newer products. If you aren’t sure what a Project Pan is click here to get directed to the page where I explain it and have an ongoing list of my project pans.
This go around I want to give it a twist. I’m deriving all of my products for this from my Items to Use in 2016 list in my Bullet Journal. Some of them I want to use up so I can force myself to learn how to use them, some have been in my collection forever, and some I just have too many versions of.
Profusion 48 Shadow Pallet
This pallet is actually so old it’s discontinued. When I got it, it was already used a little but nothing had hit pan yet. My guess is that it’s at least 4 years old, and I loved using it so much when it was the only eyeshadows I had. When I started doing Ipsy, I had recieved more eyeshadows and started using them more instead of this pallet. Lately, I’ve been feeling like my makeup has gone boring, and I wanted to add a little more color to it. This definitely gives me options.
On top of that, I’ve been considering learning how to contour (not for every day though) and this pallet also has three blush shades (one that seems to me like a cool brown that I can use.)
So for this Project Pan, I’m hoping to hit pan on at least three colors.
Hoof Stop the Bite Nail Polish
This item comes from my last project pan and I’ve almost finished it. To me it seems like it has about a month left on it, and since my last pan I’ve been wearing it only on days where I’m at work and stressed to where I start biting my nails. For this Project Pan, I want to finish the bottle, so I am going full force and using it by the directions of two coats twice a day. It’s gotten a little bit on the thick and clumpy side so it may come down to I have to throw it out before using it all.
The Unnamed Eyeliner
Another item from my last Project Pan, though this is the backup I want to get through. I’ve realized that I have 4 other brown eyeliners from different brands and this one is about 3 years old. This one is actually shorter than the last one I worked on so it shouldn’t be long before I finish it.
Pixi by Petra Natural Brow Duo in Deep Brunette
I’ve been filling in my brows for a little while now, but I’ve mainly worked with powder and brow gel. I really want to learn and get used to working with a brow pencil as well so I can have options. Also, I’ll admit my brow game is pretty bad. Hopefully getting comfortable with a brow pencil will really help bump it up a notch.
Ulta Professional Flawless Prime Sample
I got this in a gift with purchase at Ulta. It’s a green primer that should help with redness before I even put on my foundation. I’ve already used a bit of it, and it kind of works. It’s actually part of my Products to use up in 2016 since it’s considered a sample, and I just want to get through all of my samples before the end of the year.
NYX Butter Gloss in Peaches and Cream
This is seriously my go to when it come to lipsticks and glosses. The formula is amazing and feels great! Unfortunately I have way too many lipsticks in my collection that I don’t use very often. I already know that I’m going to purchase this one again but I wanted to see how long it would really take me to get through it.
Noyah Lipstick in Desert Rose
This is another sample I got in my Ipsy bag a few months back. I haven’t used it much but it works perfectly with my NYX Butter Gloss. Maybe I’ll hit two birds with one stone?
This Project Pan will be about 4 months long. Mainly because some of these items will last a couple of months at most. One thing I will definitely do different than the last Project Pan is that I will wear them daily. Last time, I had days where I didn’t wear it because I was home and so I couldn’t go through some of them as fast.
